What are Self-Learnt Limits?
Undiagnosed Learning Difficulties
Specialist tuition does not require a diagnosis of disorders, such as ADHD, Dyspraxia or Dyslexia; to support a struggling student, I need to understand their difficulties and consider the impact on their wellbeing.
Obstacles that our young people face in a traditional classroom setting are typically associated with a reading or language impairment, related to a combination of difficulties such as:
1. Memory and recall
2. Processing and retention
3. Concentration
4. Visual stress
5. Phonological dexterity
With or without a specific diagnosis, these difficulties can manifest as:
1. Low literacy confidence
2. Learning anxiety
3. Reluctant, or weak reading skills
4. Comprehension difficulties
5. Writing difficulties
6. Spelling difficulties
7. Difficulties with organisation
And over time, without intervention, for many children, this results in self-learnt limits:
1. Poor self-esteem (their sense of competence or feelings of self-worth)
2. Poor self-efficacy (believing they can achieve with sustained effort)
3. Poor self-perception (their comparison between themself and others)
My tuition provides positive learning experiences and strategies to help your child secure their self-belief.
A Poor Working Memory is usually associated with a learning profile that struggles with aspects of learning.
If you wish to understand what strategies can specifically support them at home and in the classroom you would benefit from a confirmed diagnosis through a diagnostic assessment.
