4. Struggles to follow instructions and keep their place

5. Appears to be inattentive and distractible

6. May give up on tasks easily or give erratic answers

7. May repeat/omit letters and numbers

A weaker working memory can contribute to learning struggles.

Our long-term-memory is our personal library of knowledge, and our working memory acts as its librarian, responsible for correctly filing and retrieving knowledge from our personal library whenever we need it.

A poor working memory is an associated characteristic of Dyslexia and Dyspraxia, but may also negatively impact students who do not have these neurological disorders, but still struggle to maintain and switch their attention in lessons. 

A diagnostic assessment includes standardised tests to pinpoint possible cognitive weaknesses such as a poor working memory.
